Brecht Koek (KUL team) actively participated in the “dag van de wetenschap” (Science day) events held at campus Arenberg on November 26, 2023.
Science Day is an initiative of the Flemish government in Belgium. It is an annual event to celebrate science where the general public gets to know the research activities carried out at the university.
Science Day is organized in collaboration with the associations of Flemish universities and colleges, scientific institutions and associations, museums, companies and federations and consists of lectures, tours and workshops.
Special focus is on young, often school children to get them interested in science. Brecht demonstrated the power of a scanning tunneling microscope to image the lattice of graphite at atomic resolution by carrying out a live demonstration.
