Publication in Nature Chemistry

We’ve published a paper in Nature Chemistry, that offers a revolutionary approach to synthesise stacks of 2D materials, specifically twisted 2D polymer bilayers.

Instead of using a stepwise stacking process, we merge small molecules —called monomers— and precisely polymerise them into a carefully crafted twisted bilayer. Moreover, tuning and tweaking the monomers and the synthetic conditions, we control the formation of different moiré patterns, opening a world of possibilities in the synthesis of stacked 2D materials, which could lead to many more materials and unprecedented properties.
